[b]Kennebec Celebrates 100 Years[/b]

A hundred years ago in 1905 the Milwaukee, Chicago, St. Paul Railroad held a lot sale to start the town of Kennebec. The railroad brought hundreds of settlers; homesteaders, shopkeepers, and labors to the area to live and work. Today, one hundred years later the decedents of those early settlers, along with other people who arrived in Kennebec later, will honor the pioneers dedication to the town with a Centennial Celebration this weekend, June 17th-19th.

[b]Lyman School District Election Tuesday, June 21st [/b]

Four individuals vying for three 3-year positions on the Lyman School board will face off at the school board election Tuesday, June 21st.
According to Lyman School business manager, incumbents Bob Fanning, Kennebec and Dianne Kastner, Kennebec along with newcomers Mike Anderson, Kennebec, and Ronda Schelske, Reliance filed petitions for a position on the school board.

Clarence Lilburn Slim Fugate, 98
Services for C. Lilburn Slim Fugate were held Friday June 10, 2005 at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Rapid City, with Rev. Bill Paepke officiating. Burial followed at Mt. View Cemetery, Rapid City. A memorial has been established to benefit the Bethlehem Lutheran Church where he was a long-time member.


Carol Hoffer, 73
Carol G. Hoffer 73 of Platte went to be with the lord Wednesday June 8, 2005. Funeral services were held Saturday June 11, 2005 at the Olive Presbyterian Church with burial at Green Hill Cemetery in Alexandria, SD.
