Art entries will consist of two categories, photography and all other art. "All other art" may include, but is not limited to, oil painting, water color, pencil drawing, and sculpture. All entries must be mountable. Entries should be prepared with the following guidelines in mind: • Portray Lyman County Agriculture. • Promote and preserve Lyman County agribusiness. • Represent South Dakota enhancement.

High school juniors and seniors may enter to win a $250 college scholarship. The other open class division consists of 16 and under and adult (17 and up). The first place winner in each category will receive $50.

Entries must be dropped off at New Frontier Station or the Lyman County Herald by May 12. The art will be displayed at the New Frontier Bull Riding Friday, May 19 and the winning entries auctioned during the Saturday night bull riding. Winners will have photos of their entries posted on the Lyman County Herald website.

Monies received from the art auction will be placed into a Lyman Agriculture Art Endowment Fund for future year’s prize money and scholarships. Winning art work will become contest property and may be used for promotional purposes to support agriculture in Lyman County. "I would like to see this endowment grow into a fruitful promotional tool for our local agriculture community," stated coordinator Neal Brakke.
